I am going to try to show some the misinformation that is running
around as truth. I am going to focus my presentation on the mix
blood languages and the trade language of North America. There were
some 5 or 6 Trade Jargons established before the non- native arrived
in North America. They were roughly aligned with the areas of
geography influence for those tribes living in the 5 or 6 regions of
North America. There was a Mobilian Jargon, a Woodland Jargon, A
Mississippi Jargon, a southwest Jargon and the Chinook Jargon. Well
before any white man came here these Jargons had developed because
there was trade between the many Nations and Tribes of "Indians".
These languages were Trade Language languages and use to communicate
while trade was being carried on. Not all members of any Tribe could
speak the Jargon. It was sort of a need- to-know language and the
visiting trader from other areas would know and use the Jargon. This
means, any language that developed AFTER the introduction of the
White society is not a Trade Jargon. During the first 100 years of
white influence, the trade Jargons of the all but the Mobilian and
the Chinook Trade Jargons were lost. These jargons "had no value" as
the English language rapidly took over the place of the jargons. The
Mobilian Jargon was lost at the end of the 19th century with the
death of the last trader able to use Mobilian Jargon. The last
remaining Jargon, in the truest sense, is the Chinook Trade Jargon.
By the time Louis and Clark reach the west coast, the Trade jargon
was firmly established and the need for traders to use it was just
as great. The makeup of the Chinook Trade Jargon is Chinook, French,
Russian, Tlingit, any and all the Columbia tribes trading with each
other and lastly English. Some may take exception to my statement
but I will stand by it until there is strong proof to the contrary.
Metchif, Cajon Creol, and the Arcadian are not true Jargons as they
were made after the whites arrived and from the mix of French and
Indian or English and Indian. Metchif was established during the
late 19th century as the French and Cree mix marriages separated
themselves from their Indian and French parentages. This goes for
the Cajon Creol And the Arcadian. The Arcadian-speaking people of
Canada were expelled to Europe by the English and slowly moved back
to their beloved Coastline of Eastern New England. My greeting to
you tonight is from the Chinook Trade Jargon of the northwest. It is
the only true mixed blood language fro anyone wanting to be apart of
the very earliest of trade languages still in existence today. It is
also thought that the Chinook has some roots in the very early
Vikings and the early Siberian contact over the Northern frozen
regions. If you are interested in learn9ing the Jargon to write and
speak, let me know here and I will help you.
