I believe the following is the same for ALL Peoples. We Metis are just
as unique as the Metis in Canada and, as such, are due our position as
a seperate Aboriginal People along side the "Indian" and "Eskimo"
popluations. Food for thought. To BE Metis we are required to LIVE
Metis. Blood Quota? Certification? Declaration? Maybe one or all of
these are what a controling government demands of us as Metis. It is
not government acceptance that is the issue, it is our self acceptance
that counts as who is or is not Metis. It is whether we need to
acknowledged the governments right to identify who is Metis and who is
not. Not asking for something from a government that is already broke,
frees us from the problems we can see in Canada and the U.S. Money and
greed for power are the basis for all the infighting in both
countries. Without those issues, we can be free as a seperate people
and live in peace with ourselves and others who would not see us as a
threat. If we fall into the trap of exclusion, then we are aiding the
government in segragation of the Metis into fragmented groups that
have no base to look and live by. BE METIS! TwoBears
